Share the Love Event

As part of the "Share the Love" event from Nov.16th 2017 - Jan. 2rd 2018, customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru vehicle could select from a list of charities to receive a $250 donation from Subaru of America. Roy Robinson Subaru has participated in the program since its inception 10 years ago. With your help, we were able to raise $50,164 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska and Washington which was evenly spread across all wishes, including Aidan's Adventure to Berlin.  Thank you all for your support in helping make such wonderful wishes come true!

Aidan’s Adventure to Berlin

Nine-year-old Aidan gets a special glimmer in his eyes when he talks about dinosaurs. He’s an intelligent young man and amazes many people by his knowledge of dinosaurs. And thinking about dinosaurs helped get him through the challenges that arise from a Wilm’s tumor. Aidan wished to see the world’s largest dinosaur display and dreamed of being a Junior Paleontologist for a day. After much excitement and anticipation, Aidan boarded a flight to Berlin with his mother, father, and younger brother Stellan.

This was an adventure that Aidan will never forget! Not only was Aidan completely mesmerized by the Brachiosaurus display at the Berlin museum, but he continued to jump with joy as his adventures unrolled. Aidan was invited behind the scenes of the museum to explore skulls and leg bones. He proudly walked through the museum with his tour guides and family, showing off his knowledge of dinosaurs while being completely awe-inspired by everything that surrounded him.

The museum staff gave Aidan and Stellan a book, t-shirts, backpack, and a Mosasaurus tooth. Aidan and his family left the museum filled with joy and feeling grateful for this exciting adventure together. However, it didn’t end here. Together, they explored Berlin and had quality time full of excitement, and joy. They visited a hotel with an aquarium in the lobby and Aidan especially loved watching the puffer fish. The family also went to LEGOLAND Discovery Center and the Checkpoint Charlie Museum.

This wish gave Aidan and his family time away from the realities of doctor appointments and hospital stays. Aidan was able to fully embrace his passions, explore things that bring him joy, and most importantly he made memories that he will hold onto for many years to come. It will be these moments that Aidan looks back on which will give him strength to push through the challenges he may face.

Local Roy Robinson Subaru dealership is donating $39,264 to the Make-A-Wish office of Alaska and Washington as part of Subaru's "Share the Love" event.

The car dealership presented their check on March 16.

As part of the "Share the Love" event from Nov. 20, 2014 to Jan. 2, 2015 customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru vehicle could select from a list of charities to receive a $250 donation from Subaru of America.

The local Roy Robinson dealership has participated in the program since its inception seven years ago, said general manager Mark King.

Subaru of America selects four national charities that customers can donate to, but starting in 2014 local dealerships were allowed to select a local charity that customers could donate to.

This is the second year that the Make-A-Wish office of Alaska and Washington was chosen by the local dealership.

"Three years ago we sponsored a Make-A-Wish child named Josh who lived in the Lake Stevens area. We basically picked [their foundation] because of a past experience like that which went well," said King.

King's wife has been a volunteer for their office as well.

"She was the one working with Josh. So our dealership already had a relationship with their office that way," said King.

It has become a popular program at the local Roy Robinson dealership, said King. Last year the program brought in $14,000 for the local Make-A-Wish office and this year about $39,000.

"When you get a three-fold increase in customer response, that's always a positive," he said.

King added that giving local dealerships the choice to promote local charities gives customers better options.

"People like to help those local charities instead of just the nationals because the money stays local. And when you have a child right in your own backyard that can use it, what better way to spend your money than that can you have," he said.

Over the last seven years Subaru of America has donated about $50 million altogether through their "Share the Love" event.

Josh's Wish

Josh

"I wish to have...
a room redecoration!"

Wish Child: Joshua
Age: Four-years-old
Medical Condition: End Stage Renal Disease
Four-year-old Joshua's warmth and smile melts the hearts of anyone he meets. In his spare time at home, Josh loves to listen to music, watch movies and play videogames on his XBOX and Nintendo DS. Josh's favorite artists are Lady Gaga and Taio Cruz; and his favorite TV show is Spongebob Squarepants. Battling End Stage Renal disease has been difficult for Josh and his family. Frequent and long visits in the hospital have been both physically and emotionally draining. Though Joshua is undergoing treatment for his medical condition, his positive attitude along with the love and care of his family has helped him stay strong. After much deliberation, Joshua finally settled on his perfect wish. With his love of movies, music and videogames what could be better than an entertainment room makeover! On January 28th, Josh will be surprised with a XBOX gaming themed entertainment room complete with popcorn machine, gaming chair, fridge, and much more! Josh's room for recreation will provide him with a place to relax and have fun, which is exactly what he needs in midst of his battle.
Josh and his family would like to thank the staff at Roy Robinson Subaru for making his wish come true!
We would like to give a big thank you to KIRO TV and SeattleInsider for providing these videos!
